The Party Faithful @ Mercury Lounge

These guys are up-and-coming and are in the midst of laying down some new tracks. If you don't know me, I love working with challenging backlit situations. I played around with metering to overexpose the stage lighting for some crazy natural effects right off the camera. They've just been a blast to work with. More to come as they embark on a fall show schedule.

BTW, I ended up scoring a Nord Electro 2 myself from Karen@ThePartyFaithful! What a sweet board...

The Party Faithful @ Trash Bar

I had an awesome opportunity to shoot an up & coming indie band called The Party Faithful in Williamsburg last weekend. My first impression: Arcade Fire instrumentation meets some Killers synth riffs, and their slow stuff had some Sigor Ros influences of darkness fueled by hopeful chords. My college friend Karen debuted on keys/glockenspiel. Amazing stuff. I hope to shoot one of their upcoming show in a few weeks. Here are some of my favorite moody shots.

There was also this crazy fight that broke out, but all I got was a glorious hand-on-thigh in complete darkness. Supposedly some guy ended up snapping a girl's foot, and there was an all-out brawl with ten guys on the floor. A flying beer cup targeted my neck, and one of my lenses got doused. Hopefully it still works. I met Meghan afterward who freelances for TimeOut Mag and was conveniently doing a big story on NYC bar fights. Too bad my pics didn't come out!
